MBTA Pensioners' Club
Christmas Banquet 2015
Our Pensioners’ Club is represented by an Executive Board, consisting of President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and a seven (7) member board of directors. This Executive Board meets monthly in Charlestown from March through December. All current non-salaried (volunteer) officers were elected to a three (3) year term that will expire in June 2018. A Committee has been assembled to begin the review of applicants and nominate the best candidates for each position. I encourage anyone wishing to submit their name for nomination to any of these offices do so by requesting a “2018 Open Nomination – Intent to Run” form. Please call or email.
Important Information Please Read!!!
It was recently brought to our attention that many, if not all pensioners over 65 years of age are losing money.
For most pensioners, Medicare Part B cost has increased to $134 per month for 2018, or higher. Medicare Part B premiums change each January, but the change in our reimbursement is not automatic through the Health and Welfare Fund Medicare B Reimbursement Program. If your reimbursement amount (as noted on your monthly pension statement) does not match your Part B cost, you need to send a copy of the yearly SSA 4926 to the Administrator for them to update to the new amount.
MEDICARE PART B REIMBURSEMENT PROGRAM: You MUST be 65 years old, an Active Transit Fund Member (current on your Transit Fund dues) AND have joined a GIC Medicare Supplement Plan (If you don’t know if you are a member of a GIC Medicare Supplement Plan, contact GIC at 617-727-2310).
To update your amount, either fax/email/mail a copy of your SSA 4926 to the Administrator (contact information below). No cover letter is necessary as long as your name and address are on the SSA 4926. You will see your increased reimbursement amount included in your pension check the month after they receive your SSA 4926. NOTE: The Transit Fund does not reimburse for past months, so you need to send this to them as soon as possible to update your reimbursement amount.
Go to www.transitemployeesfund.com for all the details.
